Pattern reading is almost like another language, but if you know the basic stitches you *can* read it.

I'm trying to work on a series of patterns that would teach crocheters how to read them. In the meantime i do my best to spell things out in my patterns!Pam Dhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12685321349685512517noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16710624.post-56766523492344285312010-02-23T22:32:46.499-08:002010-02-23T22:32:46.499-08:00cay,

What's hard for one person is a piece of cake for others. I stand by "learn to read a pattern and you can do anything."cayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11602211185212602550noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16710624.post-17972457632170976722010-02-23T13:26:12.997-08:002010-02-23T13:26:12.997-08:00Hi Cay, and thanks for the insight! I've been ...Hi Cay, and thanks for the insight! I've been known to take on a pattern, and not look at the difficulty level until halfway through or more. Seems to me that the difficulty level is a mental stopper for me, so now I just don't look at it! Easy as pie! But then again, I tend to just start a pattern, without reading it through first, and that's where I get in trouble! So when I last got into that particular ditch, I promised myself that from now on I'd read the pattern through first, before picking up the hook and yarn/thread in question! Has worked so far!
Thanks for an interesting read!
BNanner in IcelandMáttur Kvennahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00187166822057304458noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16710624.post-35577120182457688192010-02-23T11:42:30.253-08:002010-02-23T11:42:30.253-08:00Hi Cay,

I often feel that the skill descriptions are much too general to help the wide range of crocheters we have in the world really know whether or not to give my pattern a chance.
Pattern reading is a separate skill from other crochet skills! I'm writing my patterns differently now to take this into account.
Thanks for your post!Vashti Brahahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14439436949166577608noreply@blogger.com
